Welcome to our website! My name is Ilandus D. Swinson, and I currently serve as Basileus (President) of this prestigious graduate chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc.  One of two graduate chapters in D.C., Kappa Psi owes its origin to the late great Dr. William Montague Cobb who chartered the chapter in 1926.   Exemplary and noteworthy, Kappa Psi has developed a legacy that is second to none.  Predicated on achievement and community involvement/social action, this historic legacy continues to proliferate.

Hardworking and empathetic, the members of our chapter take an enormous amount of pride in creating and administering impactful social action projects that cater to the needs of the community at large.  Such programs include but are not limited to: the High School Debate Tournament, the Thanksgiving Food Drive, and the annual Toy Drive. The High School Debate Tournament, our signature social action project, normally boasts a registration of over 40 teams.  During this tournament, over 120 inner-city high school students form affirmative and negative teams to share arguments on controversial topics for scholarship money. During our food drive, we collect and donate enough food to feed over 40 families during the Thanksgiving holiday. Another vital project is our annual Toy Drive, where we buy and collect over 100 toys during the Christmas season and donate them to pre-identified students at our neighboring elementary school.

This website provides information regarding our programs and initiatives.  Be on the lookout for announcements regarding all of our philanthropic and social events.  The Annual Kappa Psi Boatride, which funds a majority of our Social Action projects, will take place on June 16, 2012 at the National Harbor.  The Kappa Psi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. prides itself on providing service to those in need and to the fraternity.  Each of our standing and ad-hoc committees seek to address a different need within our fraternity and community, and would benefit from the unique talent and skills that you possess.  To reactivate your membership or purchase tickets for any of our functions, please click the PayPal link.
