In the spirit of Omega Achievement Week 2006 Kappa Psi chapter successfully executed Project: Clean Streets in Ward 8, Southeast, Washington, D.C. (Recent past) Social Action Chair, Bro. Shahid M. Allah, was accompanied by Bro. Ramsey Smith, Bro. Erik Thomas, and a host of other brothers, as they assembled in front of Harambe House for Youth located on Morris Rd., near Pitts Place on Wednesday, November 15, 2006. From there they proceeded forth to manifest a cleaning tornado! Brothers swept, raked and even hand picked garbage from the grounds, depositing it into numerous garbage bags. Many of the residents in the surrounding blocks that observed the Brothers of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity at work smiled and released sighs of relief, expressing gratitude and pleasure that such help had arrived. The local Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner (ANC) was so impressed with Kappa Psi chapter's work that she invited the brothers into her house for refreshments and small talk, as she shared that her son was an Omega Man, as well. Hopefully social action projects like this will spark significant chain reactions throughout the greater DC metro area.
