2nd Annual Toy Drive

Omega Toy Drive

Omega Toy Drive

On Thursday, December 18, 2008, the brothers of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. delivered Christmas gifts and monetary donations to fifty (50) students at the Harriet Tubman Elementary School, in Washington, DC.  The elementary school is located in Northwest Washington, just three blocks away from the fraternity’s house.  These donations were part of the Kappa Psi Chapter’s, of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc, 2nd Annual Toy Drive.

Through the hard work and efforts of both the Kappa Psi brothers and the Harriet Tubman guidance counselors, the toy drive was a huge success.  They partnered together to not only identify students in need but to provide specific information to the particular interests of each child.  This joint approach allowed the brothers to customize each child’s gift to make the event especially memorable for the children that participated.

A special thanks is in order to Mrs. Lee Diggs, a Guidance Counselor from the Harriet Tubman Elementary School, who assisted in making the event a unforgettable experience for all who were involved.  The brothers of Kappa Psi also continued to support the community by purchasing the gifts from Target, a Washington DC retail store.  Target, a traditionally strong community supporter, donates 5% of their weekly income, almost $3 million dollars, back into area neighborhoods.  Through their efforts the Washington DC retail store uses a portion of these proceeds to fund projects in education, arts & culture and social services in the DC area.

The Kappa Psi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. looks forward to continuing to serve the DC community next holiday season. Their efforts will continue to provide a memorable experience for children and families in the District of Columbia.   The chapter encourages area members of fraternities and sororities, businesses and the surrounding community to volunteer their time and donate financial contributions to this beneficial and worthwhile community endeavor.  For more information on how to assist with the 3rd Annual Toy Drive please contact Bro. W.J. Williams at wjwilliams1@hotmail.com.
